Course 1.5 · Curriculum 2026.1
Reports, dashboards and the question they are supposed to answer

01What you will learn
7 capabilities, stated as things you can do
Each one is what you should be able to do at the end, not what the course covers. If an outcome is not testable, it is not an outcome.
- Apply the one-line test to any screen: does this tell someone what to do in their job today?
- Build a report type that exposes the fields a question needs, including cross-object fields.
- Choose between a summary, matrix and joined report by what the reader has to compare.
- Write a row-level formula and a summary formula, and say which one you needed.
- Design a dashboard around a decision rather than around available charts.
- Set a dynamic dashboard running as the viewer, and know when that is wrong.
- Diagnose why two reports on the same object disagree.

6 modules, 34 lessons
Every lesson shows its length and its type. A SCORM lesson looks like any other lesson, which is the point of ingesting packages rather than linking out to them.
6 modules · 34 lessons · 4 hr of material
The one-line test, taught before any report is built. Most dashboards fail it and nobody notices because they look busy.

Report types, formats, formulas and buckets. Enough to build anything most orgs need, and the tells that a report is lying to you.

Two reports on the same object can disagree honestly. Knowing why is worth more than knowing another chart type.

What you need first
Assumed knowledge and setup
- Course 1.1. You need to know where the fields live.
- Course 1.2 helps, because report visibility follows the sharing model.
- A Developer Edition org with sample data. The labs use the standard sample dataset.
